Imam Tabarani and Imam
Ahmad narrates an event. within the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), a
young man named Alkama lived in Medina. He wont to persevere within the worship
of Allah Ta'ala through prayers, fasting, and charity.
Once when he was afflicted
with a significant illness, his wife sent word to the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him), “My husband Alkama is during a coma. O
Messenger, I feel it's necessary to tell you of his condition. ”
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) immediately sent Hazrat Ammar, Suhaib, and Bilal to him. He told them,
"Go to him and recite to him the testimony of Kalema." They went and
saw that Alkama was in a coma. in order that they tried to show him
"La ilaha illallah".
But he couldn't pronounce
Kalema in any way. They necessarily sent word to the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) that Alkama wasn't being uttered. The Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked the one that brought this
news: "Are any of Alkama's parents alive?" He said, "Yes,
Messenger, his old mother is the only survivor."
The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) immediately sent him to Alkama's mother and
said to her, "Go and tell her that if you'll attend the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him), then go, otherwise, wait, he's coming to
satisfy you." When the envoy came to Alkama's mother and told her what the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had said, Alkama's mother
said, “May my life be sacrificed for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him).
I would rather attend him.
” The old woman came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) with a stick and
greeted him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, “O
mother of Alkmaar, tell me the truth. And if I tell a lie, then revelation will
come to me from Allah. Please tell me, what's the story of the big puppies
..... The old woman said: “O Messenger of Allah! He wont to perform tons of
prayers, fasting, and charity. ” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
said: "What is your attitude towards him?" The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, "O Messenger of Allaah, I'm
displeased with him."
The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah
be upon him) said, "Why?" The old woman said, "He preferred his
wife to me and disobeyed my orders." The Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah is upon him) said, "Alkama's tongue has become numb thanks to the
displeasure of Alkama's mother."
Then the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah
be upon him) said, "O Bilal, go and acquire plenty of wood on behalf of me ."
The old woman said,
"O Messenger of Allah, what’s getting to you are doing with the
wood?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,
"I will burn him ahead of you." The old woman said, “O Messenger of
Allah. Burn my son ahead of me.
I can't stand it. "
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “O mother of
Alkema, the punishment of Allaah is more severe and lasting. Now if you would
like Allah to forgive your sin, then forgive him and be pleased with him.
Otherwise, I swear by Allah that my life is in his hands, as long as you're
dissatisfied with him, there'll be no benefit to Alkama with prayer, fasting,
and charity. ”
Hearing this, Alkama's
mother said: "O Messenger of Allah, I bear witness to Allah, the angels of
Allah and every one the Muslims presents here that I'm satisfied with my son
Alkama."
The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah
be upon him) said: “O Bilal, now attend Alkmaar. See if he can say La ilaha
illallah. Because I feel Alkama's mother told me the proper thing with none
shame. ” Hazrat Bilal (RA) went immediately.
I heard Alkama shouting
from inside the space, "La ilaha illallah." Then Bilal entered the
house and said to the people present: Listen, Alkama's mother was dissatisfied
and she or he couldn't utter a word initially. Later he was satisfied and his
tongue was ready to utter Kalema.
Then Alkama died on an
equivalent day and therefore the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself came and
ordered his bath and burial, offered the funeral prayer, and took part in
the burial. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood
at his grave and said, “O Ansar and Muhajireen! Cursed be God, the angels, and
every one mankind who give preference to the wife over the mother!
God won't accept any
intercession for him. Salvation is often found only by repenting and doing good
to one's mother and pleasing her. Remember, God's satisfaction is within the
mother's satisfaction and God's displeasure is within the mother's displeasure.
