What's wrong with Muslim societies | A critical at how
we treat women
If there is one problem among others that puts Muslims
and non-Muslims in danger, it is the dignity of women in Islam. In the Western
media and more recently, Western secular feminists and their sisters have
consistently attacked the position of Muslim women, with Muslims responding
with outrage and emotion. Attempts to solve the real problems of Muslim women
in Muslim countries are rarely said or done.
The problems of Muslim society in the present context
are innumerable. Most of the corrupt elites run these societies. Most of the
laws in these countries are based on a mixture of Western models with certain
cultural elements. The fact that Muslims are valuable actually makes them
worthless. The result is that the law and those responsible for upholding the
laws do not command respect for the people. So in Muslim countries, all kinds of
vulnerable people face oppression in one way or another. These vulnerable
people are as large as women. The following are some of the problems that
Muslim women face.
1) Gender inequality: Conventional ideas and realities
We are bound by numerous conventional ideas. Only by
knowing the reality can we differentiate between the two!
(A) Conventional
idea:
I want a boy at
any cost, but why give birth to four or five daughters for him?
Raising a daughter
means watering the neighbor's garden. You will raise them, protect them from
all kinds of dangers, raise their marriage and marriage dowry but eventually, they will leave you. The sons will take care of the family for themselves, take care of the parents in old age, and
perform the funeral of the parents.
There is no reason to teach a girl child to read.
Giving them freedom or allowing them to do whatever they want does not mean
that they will get married. Because all this is an additional responsibility of
the family.
(B) Real:
This is the rule of patriarchal society. It is time to
protest against it. Ordinary people spend as much on their son's wedding as
they do at their daughter's wedding. But it was cleverly said, "We bet on
the girl's marriage." Basically, the girl is indirectly told that you have
no right to the ancestral property. Always remember that giving and taking is
both a punishable offense. It is also illegal to deprive girls of ancestral
property.
Girls, like boys, have the right to life, the right to
development, the right to protection, and the right to participate in anything.
Depriving girls of all these rights means perpetuating
the vicious cycle of gender inequality and poverty.
2) If women can go everywhere, why can't they go to
the mosque?
The girls in our country can go everywhere and that is
with the men. They go to schools, colleges, universities, shopping malls,
markets, road ghats, cinema halls, buses, offices, courts, mills, parks,
shrines, temples, etc., but there is no fitna, but only going to the mosque.
Where the
permission of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) was that even if the girls
want to go to the mosque in the dark of night, they should not be barred. Girls
can't even read until the Eid prayer. But the girls have been asked to go to
the Eidgha in groups and even the girls with menstruation! Although it is not
compulsory for girls to go to the mosque, the question is, who absolutely
forbade them to go to the mosque?
What could be more horrible than for a girl to go all
over the world but not to worship in the house of God? If a girl could go to
the mosque, she would have to go in a full veil, she would see 10 other girls
around here going to the mosque in the veil, so she would become interested in
the veil, it would become her habit, she would not have any discomfort about
it. After going to the mosque, 10 more girls would meet him, they could have
religious talks with them, they are not getting that opportunity.
3) Women's Education: Empowerment and Development-
As the country moves forward with the joint efforts of
men and women, the contribution of women in the development of the country will
increase, so will the empowerment of women in various spheres of the state.
Therefore, there is no alternative to education for women's empowerment.
There is a saying, to educate a man means to develop a
person as educated. And educating a girl means educating the whole family.
There is no alternative to women's education for the welfare and progress of
the nation.
So the light of real education must be inserted in the
heart of a woman. So that a woman can grow up to be socially supportive.
However, in the way of this growth, all obstacles including violence against
women have to be removed. Because women are a part of society. So no society
can move forward without women.
As the country moves forward with the joint efforts of
men and women, the contribution of women in the development of the country will
increase, so will the empowerment of women in various spheres of the state.
Therefore, there is no alternative to education for women's empowerment.
4) The causes of violence against women are seen as
weak:
This may sound strange in this century when we are far
ahead in terms of gender equality. But I will say that these patients are stuck
in their hegemonic, controlling behavior, it is happening, especially in the
case of women.
Experts on the prevention of domestic violence explain
what authoritarian behavior is, how to identify it, and how to protect yourself
from it.
5) What is meant by an authoritarian or oppressive
partner?
A person who behaves rudely, cruelly, or rudely and disrespectfully.
In our society, women are being oppressed by their husbands, mothers-in-law,
and even family members.
6) What could be the strategy of an oppressor?
Generally speaking, addiction, taking unfair advantage
or intimidation, including threatening behavior. One of the most horrific
incidents is called the 'misguided oppressor' - a kind of mental behavioral
disorder in which one takes great pride in oneself.
If you are in a relationship with someone who has such
high self-esteem and sees these oppressive traits, then he should run away from
that relationship.
But it may be seen many times that many men say they
never realized that they were fighting with others. Such people may change
themselves by trying to change others.
7) What is the advice for women?
Love is a very nice thing. We should all look for
that. But many women think that love is the only thing that matters to them. At
the request of all of them, psychologists say that they should welcome good
love and say goodbye to bad love. Love should not be the only thing in life.
In the end, I will say that we have to change all these
discriminatory behaviors in society. Without this change, our family and social
development will not be possible and so neither will our country and national
development.
Thanks, everyone.
